The Chaetopterus pugaporcinus dwells at 3,000 to 4,000 feet under the ocean's surface. It has a segmented body like other polychaetes but the middle segments are highly inflated giving it a round shape. These worms are approximately the size of a hazelnut. The Latin name translates into "Chaetopterid worm" which roughly translates to "resembling a pig's rear".
